If What Could Be Is How Why Not performance ° 2017
In this piece everything revolves around a monologue that is repeated over and over again. While the monologue literally moves in circles – word by word and sentence by sentence – the stage space goes its own way and is in constant transformation. Again and again each word is thrown into a changed surrounding and in its recurring repetition everything that is being said takes on a different meaning. The spatial metamorphoses stop at nothing: they overwrite and override, obscure or underline, interfere and attack, appropriate and hinder the meaning(s) of the sentences. In complicity with five children, who operate as "space-changers" throughout the piece, If What Could Be Is How Why Not raises the question: What do we hold on to, when nothing fits together?
